Surgery : Breast reduction

1. You may be a good candidate for breast reduction if you have one or more of the following conditions:
2. breasts that are too large in proportion to your body frame
3. heavy, pendulous breasts with nipples and areolas that point downward
4. one breast is much larger than the other
5. back, neck or shoulder pain caused by the weight of your breasts
6. skin irritation beneath your breasts
7. indentations in your shoulders from tight bra straps
8. restriction of physical activity due to the size and weight of your breasts
9. dissatisfaction or self-consciousness about the largeness of your breasts

Breast reduction can be performed at any age, but plastic surgeons usually recommend waiting until breast development has stopped. Childbirth and breast-feeding may have significant and unpredictable effects on the size and shape of your breasts. Nevertheless, many women decide to undergo breast reduction before having children and feel that they can address any subsequent changes later. If you plan to breast-feed in the future, you should discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

Breast reduction is a frequent surgery, needing an hospitalization about 1 to  3 days, and usually leaving scars visible from 1 year to 2 years, and then more discrete. The scars are usually 3 , one around the areola , the vertical under it measuring about 5-6 cm, and a long one in the infra-mammary fold, which size is proportional to the wight of the gland.

This surgery is not painful. The result always pleases the patients who are very grateful with regards to the benefit of this surgery.

The costs of the surgery is around 3000 Euro for the surgeon fees , usually this sum is compensated  by the private insurances.
