Prominent ears
This is a very frequent problem, concerning mainly the young people.
They are two main kind of prominent ears:
- The "only" wide angle between the ear and the skull
- The flat upper part of the ear , without shape of the anthelix.
In both cases the correction is relatively simple , and the patient is treated in an outpatient way.
The incision will be located in the retro-auricular fold, and we use absorbable stiches, therefore the post-operative cares are simple.
The complications of this surgery are few, mainly represented by a lack of correction. Infections and hematoma are very rare.
The pain is also very low, and care must only be taken with sports during the first month, the definitive shape of the ears is obtained after about 3 months.
The complication of cheloid scars can occur , mainly on African or Oriental skins, and can be treated by cortcoïd injections in heavy cases.
In France, this surgery is reembursed by social insurances. The total cost of this surgery is the patient is not affiliated to social insurances is about 3000 Euro including the hospitalization costs.
